Prevention

  • Minimize or avoid smoking or other tobacco use.
  • Minimize or avoid alcohol use.
  • Practice good oral hygiene.
  • Have dental problems corrected.
  • Have the soft tissue of the mouth examined once a year. Many oral cancers are discovered by routine dental examination.
