Phoebe Pharmacy Residency
Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital’s Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Program started in 2008, is affiliated with the University of Georgia College Of Pharmacy, and is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
Purpose
Phoebe’s PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program builds upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete PGY1 residency programs will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.
Department of Pharmacy
Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital provides PGY1 pharmacy residents with a broad scope of training including opportunities to practice in the adult ICU, NICU, emergency department, as well as additional inpatient and outpatient practice areas.
In addition to staffing our central pharmacy, pharmacists are decentralized to satellite pharmacy areas and patient care units and provide pharmacy services to:
• Four Adult ICUs
• Level III Neonatal ICU
• Emergency Department
• Inpatient Oncology Satellite
• Adult Acute Care
• Operating Room Satellite
Pharmacists round with multidisciplinary teams and provide clinical pharmacy services that include:
• Pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring
• Anticoagulation dosing and monitoring
• Nutrition support services
• Antimicrobial stewardship
The Department of Pharmacy at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
