ALBANY, GA --
Phoebe's Cardiology Associates is celebrating their 30th anniversary Thursday, with staff and community leaders gathering in the Wetherbee Lobby of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for the celebration.

Speakers include Dr. Jeffrey Hoopes and Dr. Steven Wolinsky of Cardiology Associates along with president and CEO of Phoebe Putney Health System, Joel Wernick. Dougherty County Commission Chairman Jeff Sinyard made a special presentation during the ceremony.

Cardiology Associates was formed in 1982 when Dr. Jeffrey Hoopes formed Cardiology Associates. Phoebe says that the practice has had many "firsts" including the region's first cardiac catheterization and Albany's first angioplasty procedure, designed to clear blocked heart arteries without heart surgery, among others. Dr. Hoopes has also spearheaded initiatives to utilize EKG machines in local and regional ambulances for the first time, which has resulted in lives saved.

Phoebe Cardiology Associates will continue to celebrate this milestone throughout the next year and beyond as they look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead. Dr. Hoopes adds that this milestone was made possible by a lot of hard work and he only hopes it continues to grow and evolve as it has already.Doctors say the next step is to perfect the tools and equipment they use and continue to provide the best service possible to patients as health care laws change.
