One of the best gifts a father can give his family is good health. That’s one reason the week leading up to Father’s Day is National Men’s Health Week. In Albany, Father’s Day is celebrated with Phoebe’s Men’s Health Conference on Saturday, June 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Phoebe HealthWorks, 311 Third Avenue, Albany. The conference is free and open to men in the Albany-Dougherty area.

“’Healthy fathers and healthy families,’ is what Phoebe’s annual Men’s Health Conference is all about and why this conference is one of the premier activities in the state,” said Community Benefits Coordinator Darrell Sabbs. “We promote healthy living and healthy lifestyles. It is important for men to know how to properly care for their bodies as we age and want to remain active,” he said.

The goal of Men’s Health Conference 2012 is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease and injury among men and boys.

Dr. Nur Nurbhai, a member of the Phoebe Orthopaedic Specialty Group, is one of the keynote speakers for Men’s Health Conference 2012 on Saturday, June 16 at Phoebe HealthWorks, 311 Third Avenue, Albany. Following the theme “Weekend Warriors,” Nurbhai will focus on how to keep healthy while improving your golf swing or taking on a 5K run or a pick-up basketball game.
