 Announcement of HealthTeacherAs part of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital’s Centennial Anniversary, Phoebe President/CEO Joel Wernick will announce a special Centennial gift being given to the community by the hospital.

Phoebe is investing in the health and well-being of our youth by providing HealthTeacher to schools in our 16-county service area at no cost to the school systems for the next five years.

HealthTeacher is a comprehensive K-12 curriculum that addresses knowledge, attitudes, skills development and provides opportunities for students to practice behaviors promoting lifelong health.

There are 10 different categories of lessons with over 300 classroom-ready lesson plans. All lesson plans meet national standards, are approved by the staff of Vanderbilt University, and go through the HECAT (Health Education Curriculum Assessment Tool). The other components to HealthTeacher include lesson background information, news articles related to topics, plus many other different online tools.
