Statistics About Penile Cancer

Some people use statistics to try to figure out their chances of getting cancer or of being cured. It is important to remember, however, that statistics show what happens with large groups of people. Because no two people are alike, statistics cannot be used to know or predict what will happen to you.

These areĀ the 2013 statisticsĀ for penile cancer from the American Cancer Society:

  • About 1,570 men will be diagnosed with penile cancer in the United States this year.

  • In Europe and North America, penile cancer is very rare. It occurs in about one man in 100,000 and makes up less than 1 percent of all cancers in men in the United States.

  • Penile cancer is more common in parts of Asia, Africa, and South America where it accounts for up to 10 percent of cancers in men.

  • An estimated 310 men will die from penile cancer in the United States in 2013.
