Tips to Become More Active

Tips to Become More Active

You've vowed to become more active. Here are some tips from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases on how to do that.

  • Be sure to check with your doctor before beginning an exercise program.

  • Start slowly to give your body a chance to get used to a new activity.

  • Warm up by spending a few minutes getting your body ready to exercise.

  • Cool down by slowing down your exercise. This helps relax your muscles and prevent injuries.

  • Set short-term and long-term goals to keep you focused.

  • Find a friend or family member to exercise with you.

  • Track your progress by keeping a log or journal.
